YSRCP opposes New Panchayat Raj Act

Hyderabad: YSR Congress Party Telangana unit President G Srikanth Reddy alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has exploited  his power and bringing new Panchayat Raj Act to benefit politically.

Addressing the press here,  the YSRCP leader said that KCR made the promise of conversion of Tandas and Gudems into new Panchayats. The CM hoodwinked people and announced Panchayat elections in February.  

The new proposal of indirect election to Sarpanch posts will encourage muscle and money power in the functioning of the local bodies, the YSR Congress leader said and suggested KCR to withdraw proposal to nominate co- option members in every Panchayat.  If  so, the members should not be given voting powers
