YSRCP demands CBI probe into Polavaram
17 Jan 2018 3:53 PM
Hyderabad: Demanding a CBI inquiry into the irregularities of the Polavaram project works, YSR Congress has said that Chandrababu Naidu government has been treating the muti-purpose project as a milch cow and was used for making money through kickbacks by doling out favours to contractors.
Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, party spokesperson K Partha Sarathi said, the government has escalated the government to an unimaginable extent which has surprised even the experts. The motive of the Chandrababu Naidu government is to favour the contractors to get kickbacks and has never been serious in completing the multi-purpose project.
In the first instance, there has been no proper and convincing reply as to why the Project was taken over from the Centre when the State Reorganisation Act has clearly mentioned that it would be the responsibility of the Centre to complete the project after taking necessary clearances.
There has been rampant corruption and misappropriation of funds and the cost has been escalated astronomically for no obvious reason other than to please the contractors for the sake of kickbacks, he said.
The Pattiseema project was never part of the Polavaram and it was taken up in a hurry by the state to appease the contractors and the works were carried out without any proper justification in terms of storage facilities.
The Polavaram, has become a milch cow for Chandrababu Naidu and the manner in which the contract proceedings were conducted speaks volumes of the level of corruption and irregularities in the project and demanded a CBI inquiry into the irregularities of the project.
