YS Jagan’s Efforts: GST On Handlooms Gets Waived

Thanks to the efforts of Opposition YSRCP, the GST on handlooms has been waived off. The handloom weaver community has expressed its happiness over the development. Responding to YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's letter on the issue, the Centre has waived the GST on the handlooms.

During his recent tour of YSR district, YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had assured the weaver community that he would fight for them and ensure that the 10 per cent GST imposed on finished clothes is waived. He said that it was wrong on the part of the Government to impose 5 per cent GST on cotton and 10 per cent on finished goods. He said this will badly affect the already hit handloom sector.

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had said that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and GST Council member and Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu should have fought for the welfare of the handloom weavers. They are not even concerned about the plight of the weavers, he had said.
