YS Jagan to fight for weavers on GST

YSR Kadapa district: YSR Congress Party chief and Leader of the Opposition in AP Assembly, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has decided to take up cudgels on behalf of the handloom weavers. On Friday, he  assured the weaver community that he would strive to ensure that the 10 per cent GST imposed on finished handloom clothes is waived by the GST council.

YS Jagan said that it was not right to impose 5 per cent on cotton and 10 per cent tax on finished handloom goods. He said this will hit the handloom sector hard.  He said he would write a letter to the Centre on the issue.

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy rued that in his capacity as Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, who is a member of the GST council, should have fought for the welfare of the handloom weavers. They are not even concerned about the plight of the weavers, he said.
