YS Jagan corners Chandrababu on farmer issues

With every passing day, the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is finding it difficult to maintain his cool and getting agitated in the State Assembly. The reason is simple; the Opposition YSR Congress Party strips him of his false claims on development and welfare measures.

The reluctance of his Ministers to do proper homework despite repeated warnings is also irking the Chief Minister badly. On Wednesday, the Opposition leader and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy put the government under the mat with pinpointed questions on farmer’s suicides and the government failure to pay input subsidy to the farmers.

During question hour, when the Agriculture Minister Pattipati Pulla Rao tried to mislead the House on loan waiver and input subsidy, the Opposition leader in his counter reeled out the statistics from the official records to put the government under the mat. The YSRCP chief said the government failed to give input subsidy which was resulting in suicides by farmers. YS Jagan said the government was hiding the facts relating to farmers’ suicides. He pointed out that TDP had promised to waive farmers’ loans of Rs.87,612 crore but has so far released only Rs.10,000 crore. He said farmers paid Rs.48,000 crore as interest during these three years. He wanted to know how the loans can be waived by releasing Rs.3,000 crore every year.
