Yanamala asked to respect people’s manual

Hyderabad, Nov 20,
2012: Rejecting TDP politburo member Y.Ramakriashnudu’s accusation
that YSRCP chief Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has been using mobile phones in the jail, YSR Congress on Tuesday reminded
him that there are no restrictions on under trial prisoners in meeting family
members or friends as per the 1971 jail manual.

In an open letter addressed
to Ramakrishnudu, YSRCP Central Governing Council (CGC) member Jyothula Nehru said
only convicted prisoners are generally restricted for two Mulakhats a week as
per the jail manual.

“But, there are no restrictions for under trial
prisoners. Depending on the discretion of the jail officials, they can meet
friends, well wishers and family members whenever possible,” he said, adding
that CBI had arrested Jagan Mohan Reddy on the pretext that he may influence
witnesses in his case.

“Jagan Mohan Reddy met several people so far in jail
and if you think he met some people through whom he can influence the
witnesses, reveal their names,” he asked Ramakrishnudu and his TDP
leadership.

Finding fault with the
TDP leader for making baseless allegations, Nehru wondered whether
Ramakrishnudu, being a lawyer, has made these allegations out of his ignorance
or intentionally carried out a false propaganda for political advantage. “As
per the UN declaration, even convicted prisoners are entitled for their rights
in jails as we see at Charlapally jail. In such a case, how can you point
fingers at Jagan Mohan Reddy when he got special facilities as an under trial
prisoner at the behest of the court?” he asked.

Rejecting the
accusations that special flooring was done for the sake of Jagan Mohan Reddy in
his jail cell, Nehru decried the stance of the Yellow Media for finding fault
with Jagan for playing badminton in jail.
“If playing badminton is wrong, why is there a badminton court first of
all in jail?” he asked.

Nehru said many people
would come to meet Jagan Mohan Reddy as he is an MP and president of a
political party. “How can you find fault with him if people visit him in jail?”

“Are you making the accusations
as you are worried that you party will fail even to get deposits in the next
elections?” Nehru said and asked Ramakrishnudu to respect the people’s manual
at least, if he is not aware of jail manual.
