Workers’ welfare our priority: YS Jagan

Hyderabad, May 1: Expressing solidarity with the workforce
of the two Telugu speaking states, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has said that his party
YSR Congress is always with the youth workers and farmers and will fight for a
workers’ welfare state.

‘We have imbibed in the name itself Yuvajana, Sramika, Rythu
Congress Party (YSRC) which shows our commitment for the welfare of workers
along with youth and farmers and I congratulate all the workforce of the Telugu
speaking states on the occasion of the May Day celebrations which is a
worldwide event,’ he said addressing the gathering at the party central office
here on Sunday after unfurling the YSR Trade Union
Congress flag as part of the May Day celebrations. He also offered floral
tributes to YSR statue, who has ushered in welfare schemes for workers.

We shall join hands and march forward in attaining workers’
welfare state as the present TDP government has scant respect for the workers
with police using lathi-charge on the workers at Visakhapatnam Brandix factory
who were pressing for their just demand of pay hike.

The incident happened at a time when Chief Minister
Chandrababu Naidu was present in Visakhapatnam which shows the respect TDP has
toward workers and the sanctity of May Day.

Nearly 20,000 employees of the Brandix Apparel were on
strike demanding wage hike and police lathi-charged the employees, including
women, and Chief Minister being present in the city shows the manner in which
workers are ill-treated by TDP government, he said.
