Nellore: YSR Congress Party MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy on Monday warned the State government to launch direct protest if the government failed to provide shelter to the poor before evicting them from their locations.
The MLA organised Prajabhata programme at Bhaktavatsala Nagar and Umareddy Gunta in Nellore Rural constituency on Monday. As part of the programme, YSRCP MLA patiently listened to the problems of residents. The colony residents explained their plight to Sridhar Reddy. Majority of the people, who have been living in the area from the last 50 years, are daily labourers.
The residents complained that the government officials were exerting pressure upon them to vacate from the place. People had received house-land pattas from the previous Congress government. And now the government is trying to evict them without showing alternative shelter.
Speaking to media persons, the YSRCP MLA alleged that the government has warning the poor people living in the Nellore city ever since the TDP came to power 3 years ago. He said such acts from the State government will trouble people mentally.
