New Delhi: YSR Congress Parliamentary Party leader Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy questioned what was the use of the Governments if they were not able to provide drinking water to the people. He suggested that it was time the central and the state Governments gave importance to providing people with minimum needs like drinking water. He spoke during the discussion on drought problem being faced by the country in Lok Sabha. He requested the Governments took steps in view of finding permanent solution for the drinking water scarcity, keeping in view its recurrence every summer.
Mekapati mentioned that it was important to consider the importance of integrating rivers to save the river water which would otherwise flow into the seas. He reminded that Dr.YS Rajasekhar Reddy had tried to integrate River Godavari and River Krishna through Polavaram project.
