We will raise Spl. Status issue: YSRCP

Hyderabad, YSR Congress has said that it would raise the pressing issues of the State and the unfulfilled promises by the Centre besides the State Government’s indifference in the ensuing budget session.

“Though incorporated in the State Reorganisation Act, nothing was forthcoming on according Special status to the State and Chandrababu Naidu government is shying away from seeking what is due for reasons best known to TDP, but we will use the budget session to raise issues of interests of both the States,” Party senior leader and MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy told reporters here on Saturday.

Unless special status is given, there will be no industrial development. While the Congress has recklessly divided the State in a hurry, BJP and TDP have given unqualified support for the Bill. With BJP and TDP coming to power at the Centre and State, the important aspects like special status are not being taken up by BJP, which vociferously sought ten years period of the status while it was in the Opposition.

TDP on the other hand which boasted of casting the first vote in favour of division is not raising the issue at all. Chandrababu Naidu, who sought Rs 5 lakh crores for the capital creation has fell silent and is not taking up the State interests at the Centre, instead his priorities are elsewhere and he is busy on foreign jaunts along with his entourage, the MP from Nellore said.

The Centre has to respect what the Prime Minister has assured on the floor of the House which is not coming forth. We will give voice to the aspirations of the people. The police skirmishes at Nagarjuna Sagar is a shameful act, he said adding that YSRCP has taken this and other issues to the Union Home Minister and has given a wish list to Finance and Railways ministers.

The Congress under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi has divided the State irrationally and is now singing a different tune with Sonia Gandhi writing a letter on the special status and the Party seeking public opinion on the issue.

“Besides Special Status to the State, we will also be taking up the issue of relief to Hudhud Cyclone affected people as the promised amount did not come in full. We will be pressing for a categorical assurance from the Centre on fulfilling the assurances that were given on the floor of the House and the provisions incorporated in the Act,” he said.
