Waive farm loans, YSRCP tells TDP

Hyderabad:YSR Congress has said that Chandrababu Naidu government has to keep up it promises of waiver of farm loans instead of resorting to publicity and celebrating the Kisan Diwas on December 23 to mark the birth anniversary of Charan Singh.

Speaking to reporters here on Friday, party spokesperson Vasireddy Padma said, ‘the farmers are in distress in the state and not a single crop is getting MSP and farmers are pushed into a debt trap.

Throughout the padayatra of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, farmers have been expressing their resentment on the state government and its policies.

The state should show its sincerity at least on the Kisan Diwas and attempt to take steps that would benefit farmers instead of resorting to publicity and speaking the rhetoric, she said.

The loan waiver had boomeranged and farmers are left with no option but to slip into the debt trap as they have no input subsidy, no crop insurance and no bank has been giving them loans while the interest has been compounding their plight.

At least on the Kisan Diwas the state should sincerely show its intent of for the welfare of the farmers, she said.
