president Smt.Y. S. Vijayamma said she would write to the Prime Minister
Manmohan Singh and agriculture minister Sharad Pawar on the crop losses
suffered by the farmers in the state in the aftermath of the Nilam cyclone and
the subsequent floods.
Speaking to reporters here at the end of a day’s
tour of the flood-hit areas in Khammam district on Thursday, Vijayamma demanded
the Government to build houses to those who lost shelter in the floods and
provide subsidy fertilizers and seeds to the affected farmers for their Rabi

Vijayamma also asked the Government to announce bank
loan waiver for farmers and order the Cotton Corporation of India to purchase
the damaged cotton.
