Vijayamma begins indefinite fast at Guntur

Smt. Y.S. Vijayamma addressing the people from her  Deeksha camp before launching her indefinite fast at Guntur protesting against the Congress unilateral decision on the division of the state.

Guntur,
Aug 19, 2013:

Being in the forefront of people’s movement ,YSR Congress Honorary President, Smt. YS
Vijayamma has launched her indefinite fast at Guntur on Monday as Congress and TDP
have become irrelevant  in the present
context and are only trying to hijack the Seemandhra movement through nefarious
means.

“Congress and TDP have
helped the Centre in taking the decision of division which is irrational and
they were silent when the bifurcation was announced. When the people’s resent
has erupted all over Seemandhra for the injustice meted out, the two parties
are trying to explore ways and means to own up the movement which has flared up
in that region,” party spokesperson Vasireddy Padma told reporters here.

YSR Congress MLAs had quit
the Assembly much before the CWC meeting with strong indications coming in that
there would be a division which would be unjust putting one region to a great
disadvantage. Our Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and YS Vijayamma had
also quit Lok Sabha and Assembly after there was no response to the letter
written to the Home Minister to do justice to all regions and shun from
imbalanced and irrational division.

While the Congress leaders
had said that they would abide by the High Command decision, why did they not
resign? Chief Minister and other leaders went into hiding for ten days and had
shown up purportedly under the directions of Delhi and started speaking in
different voices to confuse the people and to make their presence as Seemandhra
was on boil.

TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu
too has played a vital role in the irrational division of the state and his
silence has propelled the Centre to go ahead with the decision of the division.

It was YSR Congress which
was with the people and has always cared for the sentiments of the people and
YS Vijayamma’s indefinite fast was announced. The state tried to scuttle the
fast in the name of election code, though YSRCP is not contesting Avanigadda
by-poll.

TDP on its part played
according to a script with Devineni Uma trying to go on indefinite fast.

There is another talk doing
the rounds that Congress will float a new party in Seemandhra to gain sympathy.

These are only indications
to hijack the movement as they miserably failed to mount pressure on the centre
to stall the unjust division.

“But the people’s movement
has its strength in the developments that took place during the recent past and
they will teach a fitting lesson to the two parties,” she said adding that
people are braving great difficulties and are participating in the movement as
their sentiments are deeply hurt.

The meeting of Chief
Minister, PCC President and Seemandhra leaders has been a farce with different
opinions being doled out with no concrete theory. They are playing to the
script of Delhi is very evident and the will of the people is so strong that
they will reject them at the appropriate time, she said.
