TDP leaders emptied all the sand and mud in rivers

Leader of the Opposition in Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly and YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy addressed a public meeting in Narsipatnam constituency of Visakhapatnam constituency. Despite the rain, thousands of people joined the people's leader in his padayatra. YS Jagan was welcomed with thunderous rounds of applause and loud cheers by the people and party workers here.

Launching a scathing attack against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for his failure in delivering the election promises, YS Jagan said that at Dharmasagaram in the constituency, Chandrababu promised to build a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) before the 2014 elections. "Chandrababu said that industries would be established and employment opportunities would be created in the region. Did he build the SEZ? Did the local youth get jobs? Were any industries set up?" he questioned.

YS Jagan reminded the audience that Chandrababu promised to develop Narsipatnam into a model town and that a Ring Road in Nathavaram mandal would be laid. He also said that Chandrababu failed to keep his promise of turning the local residential school into a residential college and developing the Public Health Centre in Nathavaram mandal into a 30 bed hospital.

In the name of Neeru-Chettu program, the TDP leaders emptied all the sand and mud in the rivers across the State, he observed. Adding that the Neeru-Chettu program was a symbol of Chandrababu's corruption, the YSRCP Chief said asserted that the local TDP leaders were making crores of rupees by collecting a 30 per cent commission per truck of sand.

The Leader of Opposition said that the locals complained to him about the bad state of the drinking water project on the Varaha river. He added that the drainage system in nearby villages was causing serious problems to the residents.

In 2014, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu vowed to ban all liquor shops in the state. But, after four years years of his rule, he has ensured that every village had a liquor shop, YS Jagan said. Women in this constituency had a common grievance on the mushrooming of belt shops and complained that liquor addiction was destroying the lives of youth, he added.YS Jagan observed that in the neighbouring states like Karnataka and Telangana, fuel prices were lesser by Rs 6-7. The YSRCP Chief added that one need not be surprised if TDP promises one kilogram of gold and a Benz car to every household in the state during the next elections. The Leader of Opposition pointed out that earlier every house was paying electricity charges between Rs 50-100 while now the charges have gone up to Rs 500-1000 per house. He observed that over the last four years the AP CM had hiked the electricity tariff three times.

In the 150- bed Area hospital in the town, only 25 out of the 36 nurses are serving, while the 108 ambulances never respond to emergencies, he observed.

On the other side, Chandrababu is planning to sell flats in the 22 acres of land donated at Bayyapureddipalem by late Chief Minister Dr Rajasekshara Reddy, at the rate of 2,000 per feet to the poor, while the builder rate is only 1,000 per feet, YS Jagan said.

YS Jagan said that around 1,000 mid-day meal workers were feeding the children even though the State government did not pay them bills and salaries for some months now. "More than 1,000 mid-day meal workers are working without even getting salaries from the government. Unlike anywhere in the country, the Chandrababu government is itching to hand over the midday meal scheme to private agencies. The YSRCP, after coming to power, will ensure that the children be provided with nutritious food," he said.

The YSRCP Chief said that workers from the electricity department complained about the privatization of their jobs. "Generally, the government pays Rs 1.5 per house to the workers, but the private companies are being paid Rs 4.5 per house," he said.

YS Jagan wrapped up his speech by thanking the public for lending an ear to him, despite the rain.
