TDP ignoring R’seema interests: SV Mohan Reddy

Hyderabad,
Deploring the Governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for indiscriminately
drawing water from Srisailam, YSR Congress has said the TDP should complete all
the pending irrigation projects in Rayalaseema before taking up Pattiseema
besides working for an all-round development of the State and not to
concentrate on any one particular region.
“Leader
of Opposition, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has predicted the situation of Srisailam
drying up much earlier and has written letter to the Chief Minister but his
foresight was ignored and Rayalaseema is turning into a desert with both the
Government drawing water indiscriminately without maintaining the minimum
required water level,” Party MLA SV Mohan Reddy told reporters here on Tuesday.
Though
Chandrababu Naidu has been showering concern for Rayalaseema by celebrating his
birthday in the region, his allocations to the pending projects of Galeru
Nagari, Handri Neeva and Pothireddypadu have been very scanty. These are the
projects nearing completion but still TDP Government has not allotted the
required funds. Unless these projects are completed the proposed Pattiseema
project has no meaning and water cannot be flown to the arid Rayalaseema
without adequate storage facilities, he said.
“His
concern for Rayalaseema has no meaning without completing the pending projects
which are nearing completion. He failed in talking to the Telangana Chief
Minister on drawing Srisailam water and his Pattiseema talk has no meaning,”
the Kurnool MLA said.
When it
comes to balanced development of all regions, Rayalaseema and north Andhra are
ignored and there is heavy concentration in one particular region which could
lead to disparities and discrimination, he said. The two backward regions did
not get a single facility in education, medical, industrial or any other
sector.
Cutting
across party lines, elected representatives of Rayalaseema will come together
and list out the details of discrimination and the demands. We will submit a
memorandum to the Chief Minister soon. This
exercise has begun in Kurnool and it will spread to other districts to
safeguard the interests of the region and express the discrimination being
shown, he said.
