TDP Has Double Entendre And BJP Has Lack Of Commitment

Hyderabad: YSR Congress has said that TDP and its coalition partner BJP lack sincerity on the special status and have been trying to water down the issue from day one. ‘TDP without extended support to the private bill moved by a Congress member has now come up with a new one and has been speaking ill about BJP on the issue. This is only an eye wash and both the parties lack sincerity,’ party spokesperson K Pardhasarathi told reporters here on Wednesday.
We have been a strong votary of special status and raised our voice on numerous occasions while it was TDP which said that special status is not the answer to all problems. Northeastern states, despite having special category status, remain underdeveloped has been the contention of TDP.
When the private bill was moved it was rejected on technical grounds and now TDP is moving a Bill on its own only to drag the issue. There is no issue of Bill or discussion as the special status was assured on the floor of the House by the Prime Minister during the State Reorganisation Bill. He said that five year special category status would be given to Andhra Pradesh to compensate the loss during bifurcation.
BJP, then in opposition, has sought ten years of special status while TDP has asked for 15 years and now the private bill has been kept aside TDP wanted to stake claim for moving the Bill though there was no need for any discussion and it should be accorded forthwith, he said.
