TDP fared poorly in earlier bypolls

Hyderabad, Aug 30: Pooh-poohing the claims of TDP on Nandyal win, YSR Congress has said that this was the solitary win for the ruling party in by-polls after the main opposition party came into being and had lost on all other occasions.

On earlier bypolls TDP lost miserably and had put up poor show against our Party and the Nandyal bypoll was a one-off victory won with money and muscle power besides unleashing terror tacticsand scaring the voters of vendetta, party spokesperson K Parthasarathi told reporters here on Wednesday.

TDP claiming that the Nandyal model would be implemented in the 2019 general elections would be ridiculous as this single bypoll had seen the flow of over Rs 200 crores besides the heavy misuse of official machinery and threats including raids on the opponent’s houses to scare the voters and a repeat of such exercise cannot be imagined.

'If the ruling party is so confident, it can disqualify the remaining defectors and call for bypolls in the other 20 constituencies to prove its point. The is the first and solitary victory of TDP in the bypolls after YSR Congress was formed and our Party has an impeccable record of winning all the bypolls but for the Nandyal hiccup.

In Kadapa Parliament our leader polled the highest record number of votes while TDP was blown away. Even for Nellore Lok Sabha bypoll our party candidate defeated his TDP rival by a huge margin. In Pulivendula our Party Honorary President YS Vijayamma polled more than one lakh votes and recorded a thumping win.

Nandyal win had come as a result of various factors and announcing a slew of development works at the last minute besides terrorising the voters by raiding the houses of the opponents to scare away people. We salute the voters who stood by us in the bypoll and should any harm be done to them we hold the state responsible for them, he said.
