TDP commercializing natural calamities

Hyderabad, April 19: Castigating TDP government for its commercial agenda even in the times of severe drought, YSR Congress has said the acute drinking water shortage too has been converted into a commercial proposition.

‘The cabinet decisions taken by the Chandrababu Naidu government shows its lack of foresight, pursuance of commercial agenda and nepotism,’ party PAC member and spokesperson Ambati Rambabu told reporters here on Tuesday.

The cabinet deciding to sanction Rs 200 crores for carrying out repair works to water sources in mid-summer shows its lack of foresight and interest in awarding contracts to its favoured few while the sanction of Rs 39 cores for supplying buttermilk to mitigate water shortage is only to benefit the Heritage Foods, owned by the family of Chandrababu Naidu.

The family had also benefitted in the Chandranna Kanukalu scheme as the Company supplied ghee packets and Chandrababu Naidu has been converting even natural disasters and emergencies into a commercial proposition to benefit his family business and award contracts to his coterie.

The decision of repairs to water sources is not aimed at mitigating water shortage but appears to be a move to benefit the contractors as it would be ridiculous to dig a well when you are thirsty and the repairs would have taken place much earlier much before the onset of summer, he said.

‘Had the government taken a decision to draw 10 TMC of water from Krishna River there would not have been water shortage of this magnitude. Even in the capital area region there is acute drinking water shortage in 29 villages and water is being supplied once in three days.

Chandrababu Naidu did not insist on the full share of water as he is afraid of KCR in the backdrop of cash for vote scam and has deprived the people of the state the due share of water,’ he said.

The other decision of increasing the lease period for tourism resorts from 33 years to 66 years once again brings its nepotism and mercantile agenda of TDP to the fore.

Chief Minister giving ranks to his cabinet colleagues lost its meaning as it is the people who have to give the grading and the anti-people policies would reflect in the raking as the government is busy in shielding the defectors from disqualification.

‘We have given representation to the Speaker earlier and have given once again and in due course if we do not get positive response, we will take legal recourse,’ ‘he said.
