Special state status be given to AP immediately

New Delhi: YSR Congress Party MP Vijaysai Reddy raised the issue of denial of special category status to Andhra Pradesh in the Parliament.

The issue of according special state status to AP came up for discussion in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday
. During the debate, the YSRCP MP  reminded the government that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had himself given an assurance to the people of the state that he would accord special state status to Andhra Pradesh. 

"Andhra Pradesh is more backward than some of the states enjoying special state status. The assistance from the Central government was meagre and inadequate," he said.

He demanded that special state status be given to AP immediately.
