YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, In an interview on Monday, said Chandrababu Naidu promised that he would fight to ensure special category status for the state. However, despite his several trips to New Delhi and meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi there is no progress on this front.
Referring to the construction of new capital city of Amaravati, YS Jagan termed the entire project as a land grabbing scam engineered by Chandrababu Naidu. "How else could one describe the project where not a single brick was laid in four years and the capital city design was changed several times? Also, thousands of acres of land were taken away from poor farmers at throwaway prices," he pointed out. Stating that there is no development activities in Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan said that students are forced to go to Chennai or Bengaluru for higher studies and job opportunities.
"There is no concrete education policy, schemes for the students are non-existent and the manufacturing sector is negligible. At this rate it will take several years to compete with Bengaluru. All the claims by the chief minister about IT industry, economic growth and foreign investment is a bundle of lies to deceive the people," the YSRCP chief said.
He also did not mince any words to lash out at the Congress party. "All the cases filed against me were false and politically motivated. The late Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy was a loyal Congressman and I did not serve in any ministerial position during his tenure. All the cases were foisted against me after I quit the Congress," YS Jagan said.
