East Godavari: YSRCP leader and Tuni MLA Dadisetti Raja on Wednesday alleged that AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is causing severe injustice to Polavaram victims in terms of providing fair compensation for displacement.
Speaking to media persons, the YSRCP MLA alleged that the Chief Minister, who is concerned more on the Polavaram package from the Centre, is no where concerned about the people being evicted due to submergence. Kummarla colony is now being vacated due to the Polavaram 5th phase works, he said.
Stating that severe injustice is meted out to the victims, MLA Raja said AP Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu paid visit to the colony and assured the victims that the government would ensure the Left Canal Alignment and make changes in the project which would not affect the people. However, after coming to power, the Minister failed to keep his promise.
The TDP government is showing bias in giving fair compensation. When the TDP leaders, who has four sites, are paid Rs 4 lakhs, the remaining people got just Rs 1.1 lakh as compensation. Total of Rs 10 lakhs are being paid for those who were recommended by the Janmabhoomi Committee members.
"Naidu's wish is to gain benefits from the package not from the Polavaram project," MLA Raja remarked.
