Separate Corporation For Fishermen

Achampet: Leader of the Opposition in Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly and YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, as part of Padayatra, took part in an interactive session with local fishermen and the public at Achampet Junction in Kakinada here.

The people's leader was accorded a thunderous reception, before he began addressing the public. YS Jagan expressed disappointment over the state of the fee reimbursement and ArogyaSri schemes.

"In just over six months, we will come to power. Within 72 hours of taking oath, all pending fee reimbursements will be disbursed off. Similarly, the ArogyaSri scheme will be implemented in line with that of Rajanna Rajyam. All medical bills over Rs 1,000 will be covered under the Arogya Sri scheme," assured YS Jagan. Along with the fee reimbursement, Rs 20,000 will be given to each student against mess charges, and all women with school-going children will be given Rs 15,000, he said.

In Chandrababu's rule, schools and colleges are being closed in the name of rationalization, whilst children are not provided with books and uniforms, even after more than two months into the academic year, YS Jagan observed.

Chandrababu completely has failed to deliver his election promises. In every village, a village secretariat will be set up, and 10 youth from the village will be provided with jobs in the secretariat, YS Jagan asserted.

The people's leader, after speaking to the fishermen, promised to provide Rs 10,000 per month during fishing holiday, between April 15 and June 15, every year. Chandrababu failed to provide even Rs 4,000, amounting to a total sum of Rs 130 crores, he remarked.

All senior citizens, women from SC and ST communities will be provided a pension of Rs 2,000 per month, YS Jagan said. The Leader of Opposition said that the YSRCP government would directly provide petrol and diesel at subsidised prices to the fishermen. An insurance of Rs 10 lakh would be provided to the families of the fishermen and Kakinada port workers, in case of unforeseen tragedies. He also proposed to set up a separate corporation for the welfare of fishermen, he pointed out.

Taking note of a suggestion from the local youth, YS Jagan promised to consider the setting up of a Marine University in Kakinada, in addition to arranging model markets and cold storage facilitities for the fishermen
