Restrictions On Women's Gold Should Be Withdrawn
03 Dec 2016 5:45 PM
Tirupati: YSRCP's state general secretary, Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, responded regarding cabinet finance minister Arun Jaitley's announcement about gold ornaments. Women held a dharna at Ambedkar Centre in Tirupati, led by Bhumana. They continued their protest despite rainfall, holding nuptial chains in their hands and projecting Goddess Lakshmi's portraits. They demanded the Union Government to withdraw its restrictions on the amount of gold possessed by women.
Will the women's tears be taxed too?
Speaking on this occasion, Bhumana slammed Modi's decision pertaining to gold. Mentioning women's concern about their inability to show accounts for the gold inherited through generations, he stated that the decision taken by BJP Government was hurting to women's sentiments. He ridiculed that the Government might soon impose taxes on women's tears just like on drinking water. He suggested that PM Modi should immediately withdraw these restrictions.
