Report On Rohit's Suicide Not Fair
08 Oct 2016 5:17 PM
Hyderabad, October 8: YSR Congress has taken strong objection to the clean chit being given to Union Ministers in the Rohit Vemula suicide case as reported in a section of press, as the one-man Commission Report has tried to devote more time to absolve the people in power, University authorities or those who are close to people in power besides trying to find out the caste of the victim.
‘The Justice Roopanwal Commission Report, which was submitted to the HRD ministry, tried to find out whether or not Rohit was a dalit which is not within its purview but should be certified by the Revenue Department of Andhra Pradesh government and has given a clean chit to Union Ministers Bandaru Dattatreya and Smriti Irani,’ party spokesperson Arun Kumar told reporters here on Saturday.
The Commission tried to shield the Vice Chancellor Appa Rao, who is close to the people in power and ignored the fact that Rohit Vemula was subjected to social discrimination as was evident from his letters and suicide note, he said. Though the Guntur district Collector and Scheduled Caste Commission have given the certificate that Rohit Vemula is a dalit the Commission tried hard to prove it otherwise. The Commission also had absolved the union ministers and people in high office and we cannot accept such a report, he said.
