Rejecting Pleas On Technical Grounds Not Fair

Hyderabad: YSR Congress has found fault with the Andhra Pradesh Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao setting aside the petitions seeking disqualification of defected legislators.
‘Speaker setting aside the petitions on technical grounds is not fair and in a democratic set up, MLAs elected on one party ticket switching over to another party without seeking fresh mandate is unfair,’ Party MLA and PAC Chairman Buggana Rajendernath Reddy told reporters here on Sunday.
Why was the applications kept pending for so long was also not told and now coming up with such a decision is unfair, he said. Democracy is being mocked at in the state as there are many Supreme Court verdicts on the issue but the decision has gone against the spirit of the anti-defection law, he said.
