Nellore: Reiterating that nothing was alternative to special category status, YSRCP MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy commented that AP CM Chandrababu Naidu and cabinet minister Venkaiah Naidu knew this even better than others. He added that it was why they had demanded for the sanction of the status at the time of the state's bifurcation. He slammed the way the leaders had shifted gears after coming to power and started to say that special package was a better offer than special category status. Speaking to the media at Nellore, he proclaimed the need for the special category status in order for the state to develop.
Mekapati reminded that many discounts would be available if special category status was sanctioned, leading to the establishment many new industries. He illustrated that even AP leaders were showing interest to invest in states like Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh that had special status. He made it clear that YSRCP would continue to fight in the parliament for the sanction of special category status following the leadership of YSRCP president YS Jagan. He expressed readiness to resign if necessary for the cause, if their leader instructed to do so.
