Rajanna Rajyam appears imminent

YS Jagan often says that if his father had taken one pro-people step, he as his son, would take two. Now, by walking 1472 km as part of his 3000 km Praja Sankalpa Yatra, he bested his father’s 1470 km Praja Prasthanam, which proved to be a historic and game-changing yatra. YS Jagan still has 1530 km more to cover.

When YSR launched his Padayatra from Chevella to Ichchapuram, it encompassed the whole state and electrified its people. This led to the defeat of Chandrababu at the hustings and the dawning of a new era of welfare and development.

Through this Praja Prasthanam, YSR had developed an inseparable connect with the vast masses of the state and most of his historic welfare schemes have their roots in this yatra. Schemes like free power, Arogya Sri, 108 ambulances, loans to DWCRA women at 0.25 paise interest, Jala Yagnam and Rajiv Udyoga Sri have their origin from this yatra.

The YSR Yatra came amid alround despair, despondency and all-pervading drought. The Yatra began on April 9, 2003 and ended on June 15. He covered 690 villages from 56 assembly constituencies spread in 11 districts. The yatra passed under the searng summer sun and YSR himself was indisposed due to the physically demanding yatra.

Now  when YS Jagan has surpassed the 1470 km milestone on Sunday, the people of the state are hopeful that history will repeat itself and YS Jagan would be catapulted to power. The Praja Sankalpa Yatra began on November 6 from Idupulapaya in Kadapa district and has so far convered YSR district, Anantapur, Kurnool, Chittoor and Nellore. Currently, he is touring in Prakasam district.
