People vent ire through dharnas

Hyderabad, May 2: The massive response to the Party’s dharna in protest against the failure of Chandrababu Naidu government in mitigating the severe drought is like a slap in the face on the State which should at least now take corrective measures to solve the issue instead of criticising the main opposition party, YSR Congress has said. The anti-incumbency has shown up in the massive response to the call for dharnas across the 13 districts of the state and the TDP government should note that people have rallied behind YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to vent their anger on the State, which has failed on all fronts, party spokesperson Vasireddy Padma told reporters here on Monday. Though the situation has been severe, the State has never taken it seriously and did not held a review meeting nor did it write to the Centre seeking help while the TDP ministers have taking the issue and our dharna lightly but now they are scared after seeing the response, she said. ‘The cabinet is now meeting after the success of our dharnas and the government should understand the seriousness and write to the Centre to declare this as a national calamity and take an All-Party meeting to Delhi besides seeking adequate funds,’ she said. With lack of work and water, people are migrating to other places and the situation is serious which the state should understand and the ministers should shun from the glib talk of criticising the opposition party to divert the issue, she said.
