Hyderabad, March 13, 2013: The Governor’s address to the joint session
of legislature is nothing but a compilation of YSR schemes and a replica of the
2009 speech which shows that there has been no progress during the past three
years, YSR Congress has said.
“Though the government has failed on
all fronts, the address is full of promises made by YSR in 2009 and none of
them are fulfilled which shows the inefficiency of the government,” party
senior leader Konathala Ramakrishna told reporters here on Wednesday.
The document that the Governor read
out clearly shows that there was no development in the state after the death of
YSR and the growth rate has declined drastically, he said adding that his
speech neither speaks of the achievements nor the development plans. The growth
rate has drastically fallen down due to the wrong policies of the government as
the agriculture, industrial and service sectors have taken a beating, he said.
The yawning gap between the
production and consumption of power was not reflected in the speech and he has
doled out the same promises that were given in 2009. Getting national status to
Polavaram and Chevella-Pranahita projects was promised in 2009 and the same is
being repeated even now. What YSR promised in 2009 was repeated in the speech
and it is lackluster, he said.
There was talk of input subsidy but
the input cost has gone up manifold, due to power shortage many industrial
units are shut down and thousands are rendered jobless. Our honorary president
YS Vijayamma has written to the government to waive VAT on diesel being used
for generators in
small and medium industries in wake
of power shortage, but nothing has been done on that front. VAT was increased
drastically and irrigation was not given the due prominence, he said.
On the no-confidence motion, he
said, our party has been fighting Congress from the beginning and we will
continue to do so. It is for the main opposition party to move the no trust
motion as the state has failed on all fronts.
Instead the TDP has been thinking on
very different lines and not in the interest of the people. TDP has moved no
confidence motion when its strength was less during YSR term.
“It is not necessary that the
government should fall if a no confidence motion is tabled. The motion is only
a form of protest. If TDP is not in willing to express its protest against the
state government it is sending a clear signal to the people that it is
supporting the government,” he said.
