Sattenapally (Guntur
Dt), March 4, 2013: Coming down heavily in equal measure on both Congress
Government and the TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu for the former’s anti-people
policies and the latter’s tacit support to them respectively, Smt. Y. S.
Sharmila on Monday accused the two parties of imprisoning YSRCP chief Sri Y. S.
Jagan Mohan Reddy fearing for their political survival.
Addressing a huge
gathering of people who participated in the Maha Dharna in Sattenapally of
Guntur district protesting against the longer power cuts and hefty power bills,
Smt. Sharmila dwelt at length on the problems of the farming community and said
the farmers are bearing the brunt of the power crisis in the state and
suffering heavily.
Opposition leader
Chandrababu Naidu has turned into a villain for people by supporting the
anti-people policies of the Government, she remarked, adding he has abdicated his
responsibility as the opposition leader.
While YSR waived power
bill arrears of Rs.1300 Cr to farmers and also supplied free power for seven
hours a day soon after assuming power, the present government miserably failed
to supply power even for three hours day, she told the gathering.
Smt. Sharmila said all farmers
are in distress due to lack of power supply and the Government has thrown away
to the winds the welfare of the farmers.
The Maha Dharna was
staged by the YSR Congress Party as part of the Maro Praja Prasthanam Padayatra
which also witnessed the presence of party honourary president Smt. Y. S. Vijayamma.
Sharmila
heckles at Naidu’s promises
Smt. Sharmila lambasted
the TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu for keeping silent over the Government’s
inaction in tackling the power crisis which resulted in immense suffering to
the farming community.
Describing Naidu as a
copy cat, she said Naidu has been aiming at recapturing power and making empty
promises to the people during his Padayatra. “Naidu made fun of free power
promise made by YSR then but now he is making the same promises on schemes
implemented by YSR successfully,” she said, adding that Naidu has become a
laughing stock and lost his image as opposition leader.
While YSR waived farmers’
loans worth Rs.12,000 Cr for their welfare, Kiran Kumar Reddy has been
subjecting the farmers to untold suffering through his policies and Naidu has
been supporting them as part of the deal he entered into with the Congress.
“Both of them feared
for their political survival as Sri Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy have proved he has
inherited the political legacy of Dr. YSR. As a result, they have conspired and
ensured his imprisonment,” she remarked.
