Ananthapuram: YSRCP got ready to fight for irrigation water. It is holding a Mahadharna on February 6 at Uravakonda constituency of Ananthapuram district, under the leadership of the leader of opposition in AP and YSRCP president, YS Jagan.

Speaking to the media, YSRCP MLA, Y.Visweswar Reddy, informed about the dharna and recollected how 95% of Handri-Neeva project had been completed in YSR's tenure and criticised how negligent Chandrababu's Government was in completing the 5% of work left. He expressed concern about notbeing able to utilise water that had been flowing from Malyala to Jeedipalli for the past 5 years and questioned why they were rendered so helpless. He acclaimed Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy, as he was the reason for the water coming to the district.

Stating that many programmes like Jala Jagarana, dharnas, siege of pump house and hunger strikes had been conducted by them in order to officially bring irrigation water to 80,000 acres in the district through Handri-Neeva canal, he mentioned how the CM had spoken about differences in procedures when they met to explain their problems to him. Criticising that Chandrababu lacked the commitment to provide water to the farmers of Ananthapuram area, he remarked that Babu was conspiring to divert water to his constituency, Kuppam.

Demanding that water should be taken to other areas, only after providing enough for the 3.5 lakh acres of crops in the district, he criticised Chandrababu's Government for bragging about just filling water in lakes.

He informed that YS Jagan would come to Uravakonda on the 6th of February to conduct Mahadharna in demand for provision of irrigation water to the area and called for all the farmers and the party cadre to make the event a huge success.
