- The Government has to come to the aid of plantain farmers: YS Jagan
Pulivendula: The leader of opposition and YSRCP president YS Jagan mentioned that the farmers's lives had become stressed under the TDP rule. He complained that loans were not being waived, input subsidy was not being given and neither was insurance being paid. YS Jagan criticised that the Government was ruining farmers' lives in all possible ways. He visited destroyed crop fields at various areas of Pulivendula constituency. He observed the downfallen plantain trees at fields in villages like Nallapureddypalle. He listened to and consoled Adinarayana, a farmer who had lost 3 acres of plantain crop cultivated with an expenditure of Rs.5 lakh. YS Jagan was accompanied by a huge number of YSRCP MPs, MLAs and other leaders.
YS Jagan slammed the Government for not coming forward for the aid of the farmers at the time of loss. He complained that the officials were coming for taking note of the loss but the Government was not coming for their rescue. He suggested that the Government self-checked regarding the welfare of the farmers. He demanded that the compensation for plantain farmers was raised to Rs.50,000.
