New Delhi: Senior YSRCP leader and MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy said that the demonetisation drive is taking heavy toll on the lives of the common public in the country. Most importantly, daily-wage labourers, farmers, small-scale businessmen are severely affected due the ban on currency notes, he pointed out.
Stating that about 86 percent of currency in the country is filled with Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes, the YSRCP MP opined that measures should have been taken in a right way by keeping common man in view.
Taking exception to the Centre's move to ban Rs 14 lakh crore in the country, Mekapati said that people would have benefited from demonetisation if the Centre had implemented it in a very meticulous way.
He said that YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy dashed off a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi after seeing travails of the people in both the Telugu States. He urged the Central government to ensure adequate cash is dispensed to the banks in order to ease the pressure of the common public.
