Kiran regime only an extension of Naidu’s

Guntur, Feb 28, 2013:
Branding Kiran Kumar Reddy-led Congress regime as the continuation of
anti-people Chandrababu Naidu’s rule, Smt. Y.S. Sharmila said women have been
complaining of selling their Mangalasutrams for paying hefty power bills.

Addressing farmers and
women at Petasannegandla village in Gurajala assembly constituency in Guntur
district on the 76th day of her Maro Praja Prasthanam Padayatra, she
said she couldn’t find any difference between the Chandrababu Naidu regime and
the preset Congress regime.

“During Naidu’s regime,
four thousand farmers committed suicide unable to bear the brunt of harassment
of the Government over payment of electricity bills and now also, women are
telling they are being forced to sell their Mangalasutrams to pay power bills,”
she remarked after listening to complaints from hundreds of women.

Earlier, farmers and
women in and around Julakallu told Smt. Sharmila that they have been leading
distressed lives because of hefty power bills and hike in prices of essential
commodities. While some of them said they felt like committing suicides, most
of the women said they were being forced to sell their Mangalasutras to pay the
bills.

A farmer told her that
he used to sell turmeric at Rs.16,000 per quintal during the YSR regime but now
it was difficult for them even to get Rs.4000 per quintal. “Our happiness also
died with the death of YSR,” he told Smt. Sharmila.

“The present government is only an extension of the
anti-people Chandrababu regime but don’t lose heart. I assure you all your
problems will be solved when Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy assumes power,” she told
them.
