Jagan seeks presidential intervention

New Delhi, Nov 23,
2013: YSR Congress President Sri Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday met the
President Pranab Mukherjee here along with other leaders of the party and
appealed to him to take steps to keep Andhra Pradesh united.

During his meeting with
the President, he submitted a 5-page letter to him seeking his intervention to
stop the undemocratic, unilateral and arbitrary bifurcation of the state.

Later, Sri Jagan
Mohan Reddy told reporters that they had requested Pranab Mukherjee to take
suitable steps to prevent the illegal bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh which has
remained a linguistic state for the last 60 years.

“Pranab Mukherjee
responded to our appeal favorably,” he said.

Later, the YSRCP
delegation also called on Janata Dal-U president Sharad Yadav and sought his
support to keep AP united.

“We never supported
formation of Telangana state. How can they bifurcate the state without a resolution
being passed by the state assembly? The issues raised by Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy
over the misuse of Article 3 needs debated at the national level?”  Sharad Yadav told reporters.

 The delegation consisted of senior leaders Dr. M.V. Mysura Reddy, MP Mekapati Rajamohana Reddy, Balashouri, Subhah Chandra Bose and others.
