Allagadda
turns into a sea of humanity

Allagadda turned into
a sea of humanity as tens of thousands of people bid tearful adieu to the YSR
Congress leader Sobha Nagi Reddy who succumbed on Thursday to serious injuries
she sustained in a road accident near the town Wednesday night.

Slogans ‘Shobakka
Amar Rahe’ rent the air as her son Jagat Vikhyat Reddy lit the pyre followed by
police gun salute as a massive gathering of people witnessed the final rites.
Soon after a posse of policemen fired into the air marking the honours, the son
took three rounds of the pyre and then lit the pyre with a broken heart.

People from all walks
of life cutting across party lines had poured into the town since morning to
mourn the death of a leader who was affectionately called Sobha Akka by the
people in and around Allagadda.

As the final journey
began from Sobha Nagi Reddy’s house, thousands followed the course with some of
them in sobs and others recalling her services to the people of the
constituency.  A
pall of gloom descended on the Allagadda town since Thursday morning as the
news of Sobha Nagi Reddy’s death spread like wildfire. People, young and old,
men and women alike, were in sobs at the sudden death of promising leader as
they couldn’t digest the news.
