Farming Sector Plunges Into Deep Crisis In AP

YSR Congress Party Farmers Wing President MVS Nagi Reddy attributed the lopsided polices adopted by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's government land the entire farming sector into deep crisis in Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking on the occasion of National Farmers Day in Vijayawada, he said the peasant community flourished in YSR regime as they were provided succour from all hurdles faced earlier. After Chandrababu assumed CM office, farmers were again haunted by problems like lack of remunerative price,  low input subsidy and Irrigation facility.

Reddy said farmers were alone getting lowest per capita income when compared to others in Andhra. He ridiculed the AP government's advice to farmers to reduce thier input cost. Government would have to provide more incentives to the farmers and rescue them from the distress.

He questioned whether the government suggest legislators and employees to reduce expenditure if the cost of living goes up. Government has been increasing salaries in proportionate to the inflation. Whereas farmers were not given any assurance of increasing input cost.
