Farmer's Suicide Attempt Due to Land Acquisition

Vijayawada: A farmer attempted to commit suicide in front of the CRDA office at Tulluru near the capital region. He poured petrol on himself and the police stopped him before he could light himself up. Rambabu, the farmer, mentioned that the Government had bluffed that the area would be developed before their lands were acquired.

He expressed his agony by saying that the Government was offering him 44 cents of land for lease, after he had given 47 cents to the Government for the sake of the capital city. He stated that he had gotten tired after going around the Government officials for a year and hence decided to commit suicide.
