Farmers Lost Trust in Babu

  • Bhuma's sudden death is shocking
  • Veligonda project should be completed soon
  • YV Subbareddy cautions the Government
Ongole:
Expressing condolences towards the demise of Nandyala MLA, Bhuma Nagireddy, YSRCP MP, YV Subbareddy, wished for his family to gain strength to face the loss.
Speaking about Veligonda project, Nagireddy criticised that the Government lacked commitment to complete it and said that farmers no more trusted Chandrababu's promise to complete it by 2018. He demanded that the Government should allot Rs 1000 crore to the project in this budget and complete it by December 2018 in order to provide drinking and irrigation water, failing which YSRCP would stage an agitation.
Subbareddy expressed concern about the suffering of the farmers of Prakasam district due to drought for the past 3 years, taking particular mention of the agony of farmers of red gram, chilly and tobacco with no fair price for their produce. He suggested that the government should offer Rs.10,000 to chilly farmers and Rs.6000 to red gram farmers. He said that the government should buy tobacco for Rs 160 per kg in order to prevent suicides of tobacco farmers. Subbareddy opined that the Government should try to keep buyers and mediators under control rather than impose restrictions on farmers.
