Farmers In Duress

Hyderabad, Jan 17: Reiterating that farmers are under duress in the state, YSR Congress has demanded the State government to evolve a mechanism that could extend loans to the farmers during the rabi season.
Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday party East Godavari district president K Kannababu said Chandrababu Naidu has been continuing his anti-farmer policies and has failed to waive the loans nor he had set up Market Stabilisation Fund putting farmers in distress.
The policies of TDP are driving farmers to suicides as they are unable to even draw money from the banks in one go due to demonetization and Chandrababu Naidu has never come forward to help the farmers on any issue.
Bankers could not give the total amount earmarked for loans during this rabi season as many of the farmers have become defaulters, thanks to the false promise of loan waiver and now they are left in the lurch and have no way to get finance for the rabi crop.
We demand that the government makes some arrangement with the banks to ensure that farmers will get money for the season, he said.
