Bandi Atmakuru: The leader of opposition in AP and YSRCP president, YS Jagan, is pacifying the families orphaned by suicides of farmers, during the Rythu Bharosa Yatra programme going on in Kurnool. On Monday, he visited the family of Chand Basha, a farmer who had committed suicide, unable to bear debts. On the fifth day of the yatra, he toured in Srisailam constituency. He met Chand Basha's family in B.Koduru village in Bandi Atmakuru mandal and consoled his wife, parents and children and inquired about the situations that had driven Basha to suicide.
YS Jagan learnt that untimely rains in 2014 had destroyed the crops Basha had taken for lease, the money borrowed from moneylenders for this had been Rs.2.4 lakh and the money borrowed from Canara Bank in Nandyala by mortgaging gold had been Rs.60,000, leaving Chand Basha helpless, as the promise made by the Government to waive his loan also had remained a lie and pressure from moneylenders had increased, provoking him to commit suicide on February 8, 2015 by consuming pesticides. The family also informed him that not a rupee had been given to them as compensation, while officials performed frequent visits in the name of inquiry. YS Jagan ensured them of his support and filled courage in them.
Then he also consoled the bereaved family of farmer Dudekula Chinna Swamy in M.Timmapuram of Mahanandi mandal.
Inauguration of YSR's statue
