Do not hike bus fares: YSRCP

Hyderabad, Welcoming the decision of the two State Governments to concede to the demands of RTC employees, YSR Congress has said that the financial burden should not be passed on to the commuters by increasing fares.
“We have expressed solidarity with the RTC employees on strike and congratulate them on their victory in getting the fitment charges. The Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments have agreed to give the fitment charges of 44 % and 43 % but we are against the States increasing the bus fares,” party spokesperson Vasireddy Padma told reporters here on Wednesday.
Chandrababu Naidu has assured during the elections that RTC would be merged with Government and the pay scales would be equal. Why did the two governments bring things to such a pass is a matter of concern and the issue was even dragged to court. The two governments should give an explanation as to why the issue came this far, she said.
“YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has expressed solidarity with the employees on strike and we are glad that the two State Governments have conceded to the demands. But the two Governments should not pass on the burden on the ex-chequer to the commuters and increase the fares,” she said.
