Hyderabad, April 19: YSR Congress would hold a candle light dharnas on April 23 observing ‘Save Democracy Day’ in protest against the State engineering defections at all district headquarters and hold dharnas with empty pots at mandal headquarters on May 2 highlighting the failure of TDP government in mitigating drought.
‘We will hold a candle light protest march with the slogan of Save Democracy in wake of the Government engineering defections and luring MLAs from opposition and shielding the defectors from the provisions of Anti-Defection Law,’ party spokesperson K Parthasaradhi and Anantha Venkatarama Reddy told reporters here on Tuesday after a meeting of party leaders chaired by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
TDP government has been engineering defections and luring MLAs giving scant respect to the constitution and the provisions of Anti-Defection Law and we will be highlighting the issue by observing Save Democracy Day by organizing candlelight procession.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will also lead a delegation of party leaders to apprise the President, Prime Minister and Election Commission about the luring of MLAs and shielding them from disqualification, they said.
The state has totally failed in taking steps to mitigate drought in the state and address the acute drinking water problem. It has been devoting its time and resources only in luring MLAs from opposition party and it has no concern over the burning issues.
We will highlight the failure of the government by protesting at all mandal headquarters with empty pots as the state has failed to provide drinking water and tackle the drought situation, they said.
