Compensation Should Be Paid To Gandikota Expatriates

YSR Kadapa: Expatriates of Gandikota in YSR district should be paid justified compensation immediately, demanded YSRCP farmers' wing president of the district, Sambaturu Prasad Reddy. He held a rally from state guest house to Ambedkar circle in Kadapa on Tuesday, demanding the compensation of Rs.1 lakh cut down for them. Then he staged a dharna in front of Ambedkar's statue with support from various parties.
Speaking on this occasion, Prasad Reddy slammed the release of water suddenly, without paying compensation to the people in flood-prone areas of the project. Taking pity on those who had already lost lands and houses, he condemned the indifference shown by the Government towards their agony. He also criticised the cut down of Rs.1 lakh from their compensation for staging agitation against the Government.
Prasad Reddy questioned how justified it was to call it quits by announcing Rs.6 lakh for each acre to the expatriates of Gandikota project, while offering Rs.19 lakh to those of Polavaram project and Pattiseema scheme. He also questioned how people in the state would further give their lands for projects if instances like this happened. He suggested that the Government should, according to 2003 Land Acquisition Act's GO, give back the Rs.1 lakh compensation but down.
