BJP Is Prime Accused, TDP No. 2

New Delhi: YSR Congress Party Rajya Sabha MP Vijayasai Reddy, while speaking in the Upper House as part of the discussion on AP Reorganisation Act, said that Andhra Pradesh was not accorded Special Category Status (SCS) and the reason was because of accused one BJP, accused two TDP and accused three Congress. The accused in SCS issue would be rightly punished by the people of AP, he observed.

The YSRCP MP informed the Rajya Sabha that it was YSRCP that was relentlessly fighting for SCS to AP for the last four years. Their party believes that SCS would a panacea to the state, while TDP had tried to convince people to the contrary, he said. He pointed out that apart from YSRCP, Jana Sena and Left parties were also under the belief that SCS was panacea for AP.

Vijayasai Reddy said that there was a cabinet approval on the SCS issue even before BJP came to power in 2014. Who had given them the power to cancel the cabinet approval, he questioned. It was the duty of the new government to respect the earlier government's decisions. It was wrong on part of BJP-led NDA government to blame the 14th Finance Commission and not award SCS to AP, he lamented. Vijayasai Reddy requested for 15 more minutes to point out various key issues, but he was not given time.
