Athlete doesn't have runner shoes and Chandrababu doesn't bother

Looking at this champion runner, you will say Chandrababu's sports policy is sham

Naganjali is a runner, a runner who can win medals to do the country proud.  But, she is now running from pillar to post for some support to pursue her sporting ambitions. She needs Government support to take part in the national level competitions that would soon be held in Assam. Naganjali, who won the bronze in the 800 metres run in the last national athletics, is now in such a dire strait that she can’t even afford runners’ shoes. This girl, who could have made her home town of Kovvur in West Godavari proud, by becoming a national champion, is now languishing without any Government support.

This sad state of affairs exposes the hollowness of Telugu Desam government’s so called commitment to encourage sports. On Sunday, Naganjali met YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is currently touring the area as part of his 3000-km Praja Sankalpa Yatra, and narrated her tale of woe.

Deeply moved by her plight, YS Jagan said the Chandrababu Naidu Government, which is making a show of supporting and sponsoring sports persons, is neglecting talented players like Naganjali. He said for publicity, it gives jobs and crores of rupees to people who already have resources, but ignores talented people who are in real need of support.

YS Jagan said that Chandrababu should wake up and support budding young talents like Naganjali. He said she should be supported so that she can take part in the national games in Assam. He assured the girl that he would take care of her sporting ambitions. He said he would help her so that she can take part in the event in Assam. YS Jagan asked her not to lose heart and continue with her practice.
