Asset Declaration, A Farce

Hyderabad, Oct 20: Pooh-poohing the futile exercise of Chandrababu Naidu and his family members declaring assets amidst fanfare with fudged figures and sycophants blowing the trumpet asking people to emulate the Chief Minister as role model, YSR Congress has said that what was shown was only the tip of the ice berg while the actual unaccounted amount lies locked away in the secret chambers.

Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, Party leader Bhumana Karunakar Reddy said: ‘the declaration of assets is only a futile exercise and to divert the attention from serious subjects like Brijesh Kumar Tribunal verdict on water sharing which has a serious ramification, political, social and economic.

The first time Chandrababu Naidu began this exercise in 2011 was to hog the limelight  when there were other developments in the state involving YSR and the exercise has been continuing ever since on the same line.’

The assets declaration was only to gain sympathy from the people to show that Chandrababu Naidu and Lokesh Babu are very ordinary and have no major assets but what was shown has been only the door of the cave which houses the ill-gotten wealth from the cash for vote and other corrupt deals, he said.

‘Tehelka website had earlier, ran a story giving details of the assets and corrupt practices of Chandrababu Naidu and named him as the richest as well as corrupt Chief Minister and these periodical declaration of assets is only to divert the attention from the serious affairs of the state, he said.
While the authenticity of the figures are being questioned on many counts, sycophants of the Chief Minister shouting at the top of their voice to emulate the Chief Minister and make him as a role model sounds ridiculous,’ he said.

‘Chandrababu Naidu could be a role model in corrupt deals from cash for vote to capital city building and nepotism, Lokesh Babu could be the showcase babu to help out the deal,’ he said adding that the figure Rs 57 crores could be only the tip of the ice berg.

Though three years are being completed, Chandrababu Naidu has not fulfilled even a single poll promise and he could be a role model on this count, he said.
