AP Ranks One In Woman Harassment

  • Lack of safety to women in Babu's rule
  • Women's day celebrated at SC welfare girls' hostel
  • MLA Roja has food with the students
Tirupati: Quoting Mahatma Gandhi saying real independence was only when a woman freely moved on a road at midnight, YSRCP MLA, RK Roja, remarked that women could not walk on roads even in broad daylight under Chandrababu's rule and added it was shameful of the Government to keep the state in such a pitiful situation. International women's day was grandly conducted at SC welfare girls' hostel in Tirupati of Chittoor district. She spent the day with the students in the girls' hostel, had lunch with them and cut a cake to commemorate the occasion.

Speaking on this occasion, MLA Roja mentioned how girls were putting an end to their education due to financial and personal difficulties and encouraged them to not be moved by hurdles and said bright future lay in facing hurdles with strength and will power. Expressing concern about increasing attacks on women despite strict laws, she commented that AP state was in the first place in the country in child marriages, liquor sales and attacks on women. She also slammed the police for protecting political leaders instead of protecting laws.

Mentioning the publicity Chandrababu's Government had made about their giving utmost importance to women, she reminded how Rishiteswari's case had faced injustice and how woman MRO Vanajakshi had been abused by Chintamaneni, backed by Chandrababu's support.
