AP govt projects false figures on Agriculture Growth : YSR Congress

YSR Congress party Farmers Cell President MVS Nagi Reddy  took on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for showing false figures on agriculture growth in the budget 2018-19 proposals presented in the Assembly.

He pointed out the extent of cultivation has come down drastically this year but the government projected highest yieldings.  He wondered how the farm output increased when the crops dithered due to lack of irrigation facility in the state. During Dr. YSR regime, the total extent  of  irrigated land was  46.65 lakh hectares in the 13 districts of Andhra regions. In Chandrababu rule, it has been reduced to  40-96 hectares in 2014-15 and this year it was registered only 35.9 lakh hectares.

Reddy said Groundnut and Redgram standing crops were dried up as the government failed to provide sufficient water.  He demanded Chandrababu's  government  to release a white paper on the farming in the state.

The YSR Congress leader also criticised the TDP government for its failure in providing minimum support price to the farmers produce. As a result , farming community fell in debt trap and committing  suicides.
