Hyderabad: Senior TDP leader and Vijaya Electronics CMD Dasari Jai Ramesh announced that he was joining the YSR Congress party (YSRCP) in the presence of the leader of the opposition Andhra Pradesh Assembly YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at his Lotus Pond residence today.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, he said that YS Jagan was a person with high morals, who can fulfill all the promises he makes, unlike the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supremo N Chandrababu Naidu. Jai Ramesh also predicted that YS Jagan was going to win the upcoming elections in the state.
He remarked that there was rampant corruption in the TDP government and that the TDP MLAs have earned more than Rs 50 Crore each through illegal means using their power. He also took a jibe at the capital city Amaravati saying that the capital's construction was going on at a snail's pace. Rumours are that Ramesh is likely to contest from Vijayawada in Lok Sabha elections and is expecting a YSRCP party ticket and could be pitted against TDP's Kesinani Nani in Vijayawada.
Daggubati Venkateswara Rao and former MLA Jaya Prakash were among others who accompanied Jai Ramesh for the meeting. With the elections fast approaching many important leaders from the TDP are leaving the party and joining the YSRCP. Recently TDP MLA Amanchi Krishna Mohan and MP Avanthi Srinivasa Rao also joined the party.
